Hey there!
You know how everyone talks about the importance of starting your morning right? Well, I had a bit of an "aha moment" this morning that I just had to share with you.
Like many of you, I've gotten into the habit of starting my day with news updates. First thing every morning, I'd grab my phone and dive into Canadian and US headlines, trying to stay on top of economic trends and business news. Sounds responsible, right?
But here's the thing – I noticed this habit was taking a toll. The constant stream of economic concerns and market predictions was turning me into a stress-eater (hello, extra cookies with my morning coffee! 🍪) and making it harder to focus on actually running my business.
So today, I tried something different. Instead of diving straight into the news, I treated myself to 20 minutes of baby animal videos. Yes, you read that right – puppies, kittens, baby goats in pajamas, the whole adorable package! And you know what? I found myself starting my workday with a genuine smile and a much lighter mindset.
This small change got me thinking about how we, as business owners, often forget to prioritize our mental well-being in pursuit of staying "informed" and "on top of things." While being aware of economic trends is important, maybe we don't need that information first thing in the morning when our minds are still fresh and ready for positive input.
My new morning ritual? Baby animals first, business news later. Because let's be honest – who can stay stressed while watching a puppy discover their reflection for the first time? 🐶
